The Glenn Minnetonka is seeking to add a second Community Life Coordinator to our Community Life team. This is a full time, benefit eligible position, working 40 hours per week (to include 1-2 evenings/week and 3-4 weekend days/month on a flexible schedule). We are proud to offer the full continuum of care levels including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and care suites and are located in the beautiful Glen Lake neighborhood of Minnetonka.


Job Description:

The role of a Community Life Coordinator is to work as a member of the Community Life Team in assisting the Community Life Director in planning, promoting, implementing, and assessing all resident activity programs.

·         Lead meaningful daily activity programming in memory care and care suites, as well as occasional independent/assisted living activities

·         Provide structured activities during flexible evening and weekend hours

·         Assist in organizing all house events; i.e. summer BBQ, holiday events, etc.

·         Work as a member of the Community Life Team to organize monthly activity calendars

·         Create & brainstorm new and innovative approaches to engage residents

·         Assist on community outings as needed with residents




Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Art, or Music Therapy, an Activity Professional Certification, or a degree in a related field are preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person!
  • Preference given to applicants with previous experience working with seniors – especially those living with dementia
  • Passion for interacting with residents with varying degrees of memory loss
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups to conduct activity programs that meet a variety of physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of the residents
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize to-do lists, in-between providing meaningful activities to residents
  • Strong computer and word processing skills
  • Effective communication skills to professionally interact with residents, family members, entertainers, volunteers, and colleagues
  • Ability to communicate (both orally and in writing) and understand the English language
  • Class C License, or ability and willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire

Online Training

  • Fulfills all required training within the required timeframe, including the completion of all online training and study application appropriate for the position.
  • Completes all training required by the state or other regulating authorities including ongoing training per regulations
  • Completion of the following training may be required and/or certificates available per regulations and laws as applicable:
  • Driver Training


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Items listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required
  • One (1) year job related experience preferred in senior living communities
  • Ability to lead activities and motivate volunteers and fellow employees for their involvement in the social events and various scheduled social activities
  • Maintains or willing to obtain a current appropriate federal and state license such as CDL (commercial driver’s license) and/or chauffeur license, applicable state license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with State, Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Gentle Touch Health Initiatives policy
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group presentations
  • Competent in organizational, time management skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to make responsible choices and decisions and act in a resident’s best interest
  • Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision by following community procedures and guidelines and have the ability to follow through on assigned tasks
  • Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel),with the ability to learn new applications
