    Great Lakes Management Company is a rapidly expanding local operator of assisted living/memory care facilities and property management company currently managing approximately 4,000 units at 30 locations. Our diverse portfolio includes assisted living, independent senior, multifamily, and student housing communities. 

     

    The Controller will be responsible for maintaining systems and controls that verify the integrity of data and financial statement reporting for all facilities/properties under GLM management, as well as ensuring compliance with tax and other regulatory organizations. Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for the training and oversight of a seven person Accounting staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for reviewing all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements/reports for managed properties.
    • Responsible for distributing managed properties’ electronic reporting package to clients each month.
    • Responsible for maintaining appropriate Timberline & Eldermark systems.
    • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising accounting staff.
    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining systems and internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
    • Review internal audit reports generated by staff accountants.
    • Participate in a variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
    • Responsible for approving accounts payable invoices GLMC/GTHI corporate.
    • Responsible for producing and reconciling monthly general ledgers and financial statements for assigned properties.
    • Assist sites with outstanding vendor accounts and statements for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for reviewing accounts payable checks generated by corporate & staff accountants.
    • Responsible for preparing 1099s for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for processing rent charges, rent payments, and rent adjustments for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for running monthly A/R reports for reconciliation and manager review for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for preparing annual Certificates of Rent Paid for residential tenants for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for preparing annual CAM reconciliations and monthly invoices for commercial/retail tenants for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for bank reconciliations for assigned properties.
    • Responsible for entering budgets for assigned properties.

    Qualifications

    As our company’s presence in the assisted living/memory care industry continues to grow, we desire candidates to have assisted living or healthcare accounting experience.  Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field, a minimum of 5 years at an accounting manager/supervisor level, with direct supervisory experience.
